So I had recently discovered that my 4 plex apartment was getting foreclosed on when Auction date was taped on my door. I immediately contacted my LL, and he of course denied everything stating this was “all a big misunderstanding with the bank”. It sold two weeks later, I have been served an eviction notice, the new owner refused rent and gave everyone a 90 day move out period. I figured, sweet deal 3 months to save money that will all go undoubtedly towards a new deposit first and last etc…Now , today, I found the gas man shutting off the meter. This means no hot water (it was paid by the previous owner) I planned on suing the previous owner in small claims court next week for my 995.00 deposit, but who do you call to get the utilities paid for by the owner back on??? I really would not mind staying 2 more rent free months, I just did not know they would be done shivering under a cold shower head.

i rented a apartment back in July. i only stay there for a month and then moved out because the area was really bad: people drinking all night and loud music etc.my deposit 500$. since i moved out i have been calling my landlord to get my deposit back. and he say next month every time. this month i called him and he say that he can’t give me back my money because he’s in foreclosure. how can i get my money back? please help

when foreclosure is a sure thing, how long do you have to remain in the house and continue to pay only a small portion of the mortgage? When is it more sensible to move out and use the money for rent on an apartment before your credit is affected? The house is listed with a realtor at present and has had no activity. I would love to have the peace of mind and lease an apt. before my credit is damaged. How long is it necessary to stay here to show “good intent”. I can no longer make anything but small partial payments on the house.
